Movies
Been watching a lot of movies and decided to pen my thoughts down — especially with movies, I tend to forget what I watch. So here are the rankings, with a proper note on each.
-
The Ordinary Jackpot
Might be number one, just because this feels like it crossed a line into real life. Still watching it currently, but will probably have to do an episode by episode breakdown of this one.
-
Love Between the Lines
The best of everything I'd finished — and the reason it's not locked at #1 anymore is that Ordinary Jackpot is breathing down its neck. A strong female lead who actually drives the story, an architecture storyline I'll admit I'm biased toward, and a genuinely thoughtful handling of addictive behaviour that didn't feel tacked on. The male lead isn't one-toned either. I didn't skip a thing.
-
Reborn Rookie
Amazing. With most movies I'm half-watching as a critic, clocking the setting, the music, the choices. This one shut all that off — it just had me. I skipped two episodes before the finale, and normally that'd cost a show, but bruh, I was locked in. How you do one thing is how you do anything, and this locked me in so hard I carried that focus off the screen and into real life.
-
The Apartment Job
Great, and I watched it clean — no skips. Nothing flashy to report, which is sort of the point: it held me start to finish without me ever reaching for fast-forward.
-
Love Untangled
A great movie, and one I loved on more than one front. Loved the pace. Loved the world setting — which is funny to say, because it's just the real world, nothing invented. What got me was the father: a man who seems to simply do a job he loves and, in doing it, manages to be genuinely unique — like he's found himself, found his place in this ordinary world. Quietly moving, and the thing I'll remember longest.
-
Ludwig
Loved it. The camera work especially stood out — one of the few where I actually noticed and admired how it was shot.
-
McDonald & Dodds
Great. I loved, loved the first two and a half seasons — genuinely devoted. Never carried on into the later ones, but that's not a knock; I was all in for the part I watched.
-
Black Clover
Honestly great. I started rewatching, then stopped — but that's on me, not the show. I think I just changed. It's not you, it's me. Still the only thing I've watched that made me care about five-plus characters at once.
-
Pursuit of Jade
Great and warm — a really good set. Stopped at episode eight, not out of boredom but just... stopped. Left me feeling good about it.
-
Carry-On
A classic American movie and just a great flick. No notes, no caveats — it does exactly what it sets out to do and does it well. Sometimes that's all you want.
-
My Royal Nemesis
Great for most of it — watched everything but the last two episodes. Then those last two make you feel kind of tricked, and suddenly the whole thing reads as normal. What saves it is Cha Segye, who genuinely stands out.
-
Agent Kim Reactivated
Great, and a fresh concept. Made it to two episodes from the end before stopping. The one thing dragging it down is that it got repetitive.
-
Our Sticky Love
Lightning in a bottle. Didn't finish it, but there was a spark I can't quite explain.
-
Life on Mars
Great — and I only watched three episodes. Not sure why I never continued. No real reason, I just didn't.
-
Genie Make a Wish
Reminds me of old times, for some reason I can't pin down. Stopped at episode three. Might continue, slowly.
-
Rebel Ridge
Finally — a good American watch. Made it through the first half properly, then skipped through the rest, but the half I actually watched got me praying. The skimming is the only reason it doesn't climb higher.
-
Parallel World
Okay — but different. Watched the whole thing through, and the distinctiveness is what kept me there even if it never got better than "okay."
-
Blossom Through the Cloud
Unique. Not very good, if I'm honest — but it might be good for comfort watching.
-
The Last Ship
Stopped at around episode three. Didn't seem like much was going to change.
-
My Happy Marriage
Skipped through.
-
My Boss
Skipped through. Let's not talk about this one.
-
OEAE
Stopped at episode three, and really only skipped through for the love scene.
